A Little Late August Favourites

As usual I am a little unorganised so this post is a week or so late but alas we are here and these are my favourite products from August (and also maybe July because I can't remember if I did a July favourites!!)

First up is a very recent purchase because I literally only bought it at the very end of August and it is this Primark Cleansing Sponge Thing (I unforunately don't know the proper name!). On my latest trip into Primark I noticed that the beauty section had had a massive expansion and there was loads of fun new stuff there that I was very eager to try out. I picked up a gel eye mask and also a grater for my disgusting feet, sorry for the TMI, but this was the most exciting thing I picked up. This is basically a little rubber disk with tiny little rubber bristles on. I have been using this every single morning and night with my cleanser and I love it! My skin has been a little problematic recently but I really feel like this is helping it get back to its good old self, and for only £1.50 it is such a bargain!

Now my second favourite is actually a purchase from way back last year but one I seem to have rediscovered recently. My skin was been on the oilier side recently so I have been desperately rummaging in my foundation drawer for an oil free foundation and this one has really stepped up to the job. The Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Foundation isn't one that is talked about a lot and is often outshined by its concealer friend but I think it really deserves its time in the limelight! This stuff stays on your skin for ages and provides really good coverage but without feeling super heavy on your skin. This foundation doesn't have any amazing colour range and the one I have is little too dark to for me but mixed in with a little bit of a light colour and it is spot on!!

Hold up everyone I have another eyeliner in my monthly favourites, what the hell is happening!! This Lord and Berry SMUDGEPROOF Waterproof Eye Liner in #719 Smoke* was very kindly sent to me but I have to admit at first I wasn't that excited! I am not a massive eyeliner girl but this ones seems to have helped converted me! Firstly I think the colour is really beautiful and is a really nice change from black or brown. I mostly smoke this out and use it under my bottom lashes but recently I have been using it on my eyelids when I'm doing a smokey eye for a little added depth. This is the first thing I have tried from Lord and Berry but if the rest of their stuff is as good as this I will definitely be giving some more of their stuff a go.

Last up is a product that I never actually thought I would love. When MAC release their limited edition collections I can't help myself and I end up buying almost everything from the collection and that is why this MAC Kelly Osbourne Powder Blusher in Cheeky Bugger  was purchased. Don't get me wrong I never hated this product but I just thought it was something that would never wow me but wow was I wrong! This is actually just the most perfect blusher, the subtle pink colour really works with my complexion and just compliments my bronzer and highlighter really nicely. Most days I have found myself leaning for this and I can't see that changing.

I feel like I have been typing for ages, my little fingers are exhausted!! But there you have it all my favourites from the last month. What have you been loving this month? I will be back on Wednesday for a look at a cheeky new MAC purchase, make sure to follow me on Bloglovin so you don't miss that post. Hope you enjoyed and thanks for reading,

My Holiday!

I got home yesterday from an amazing relaxing week in the sun! It was mine and my boyfriends first holiday together and I was so excited and it definitely didn't disappoint. We went to Costa Teguise in Lanzarote, where I have been holidaying almost every year since I was a child so it was lovely to be able to show him all the places my family talk about. So read on to see some OOTN's as well as some general holiday snaps!

Outfit from the first night, the dress is from Topshop, Sunglasses are from Ebay and Flip Flops Boohoo.

My first meal in Lanzarote and one of the best! Yummy grilled Squid and Canarian potatoes, so good!

This was a cheeky last minute purchase the day before holiday but this colourful Primark bikini became my favourite! The top is really flattering and also provides really good support. The sunglasses are from Tiger.

Another outfit pic, I love this maxi dress, it is from Dorothy Perkins and looks so lovely but is also super comfy. Lanzarote can get a bit breezy so some nights I had to wear a cardigan and when I did it was this H and M one. Finally I wore some Primark flatform wedges.

I kept my make up fairly simple on holiday so it always featured an eye look from my Naked 3 palette, Benefit High Beam, Body Shop Honey Bronzer (to make me a little more brown!), MAC MSF in Stereo Rose and then a lip of choice. In this picture I was wearing MAC Chatterbox. This look is really simple but I think it is pretty good for summer nights. I kept my hair natural everyday as well because I just couldn't be bothered to style it!

My favourite outfit of the holiday because I love this dress! I got this dress a couple of weeks ago from Zara and I love it! Wore it with my Boohoo flip flops and a H and M bag.

Final outfit is another H and M number, again with my cardigan and bag but this time with Primark black flip flops.

Ok so that is all of my holiday snaps that I shall be sharing with you! I had such a lovely time and now feel very relaxed and revitalised! I shall be back again tomorrow with a review of some lovely lip products so make sure to check that out. Please follow me on Bloglovin, link below. Hope you enjoyed and thanks for reading,

My Room Mini Tour

Living in a student house can be really hard. You are only there for a couple of years and there isn't much about the decor and design of the house you can change so it can be difficult to make it your own but finally after living here since September I have managed to get my room organised and pretty so I thought I would give you a little look around.

All the walls in my bedroom are a creamy beige colour which although is boring it is nice and neutral so I don't have to match it with duvuet covers or anything. This room is much bigger than my room at home but somehow I have managed to fill this room with so much stuff, I can't imagine living in a smaller room now!! The pictures below are going to be of my favourite bits and hope you enjoy have a snoop around.

This cute little heart from Primark I bought a couple of months ago and I think it just adorable. I have hung it on my door just because I didn't really have anywhere else to put it but I think it looks really cute there. I really like the colour of it, it is a lovely neutral grey colour so would look amazing against so many different colours!

Moving onto my bed area, the duvuet covers I have on the bed most of the time are from Ikea and are just a pretty blue with pink flowers, as my room is quite plain I think it is just a pretty pop of colour to brighten it up. I only started using these covers again in April because I think they are very summery so have given my room a spring/summer vibe!! The fairy lights above my bed are both for decoration and practical use, I don't have a lamp in my room so the fairy lights I use for dimmed atmospheric lighting!! These are from Ikea as well and the pretty blue floral cushion is from Dunelm Mill.

Moving over to my shelves, now I will admit the top shelf is a complete mess!! This is where I just dump all the things that don't have a space anywhere else! I am sure that at some point I may get around to sorting it, but that will be no time soon. The bottom shelf however is a bit of an organised chaos. On the left I keep all my nail varnishes, I did use to keep them in a box (which will feature later) but my growing make up collection meant they were pushed to the shelf. Further along is all my jewellery. I try to keep them in 2 paisley print dishes I bought in a charity shop but as I buy more they have just spilled out onto the shelf! I am looking for some new storage ideas if anyone has any good ones?? Finally is just a random collection of bits and bobs, the flowers and vase are both from Ikea as is the lantern on the end. And the LOVE sign is from Dunelm Mill.

Now make up storage time! As you may have been able to tell I am not the most organised person in the world but when it comes to make up I am fairly on top of it. The clear storage on the left looks like Muji but is actually from Rymans and that is where all my lipsticks, lipglosses and lipliners live, (as well as in the bottom of my bag!). The drawers in the middle I got from Asda and that is where the majority of things live, foundation, mascaras, blushers, bronzers and more all have their place in one of the drawers. Finally is this cute maquillage box that my Mum got me for Christmas, this is where I keep all my palettes! If at any point you would like a more detailed look at my collection let me know!

And finally my little treat to myself, flowers. I don't have flowers all the time but whenever I remember I try to get some, I took these photos after Easter and these are tulips which are think are very Easter themed. Flowers just brighten up the room and also smell lovely!! The vase was an Christmas present so I am not sure where it is from but I think John Lewis and the little wax burner next to it is from Yankee Candle, and the tart I am currently burning is called Lake Sunset. I really like the smell of it but I also think the colour of the wax is really nice!

So that was just a brief look into my uni bedroom, if you are at uni maybe this has given you some inspiration and if not maybe you just like being nosey like I do. Make sure to come back soon to see a fairly large MAC haul! I finish second year on Thursday so expect a lot more posts in the coming months! Hope you enjoyed and thanks for reading,

April Empties

WARNING!! This post contains a lot of candles!!

Yes! My name is Laura and I am a candleaholic. I'm sorry but I like a nice smelling room and that means I get through my fair share of candles. I have recently purchased a wax burner and I think it may have been one of the best decisions of my life. Also I apologise now as I am rubbish at describing smells!! Anyway here is a look inside my bin,

First I'll start with all the candles, just to get them all out of the way!! So at the end of last year I discovered a brand called Village Candles, as you can see they look very much like Yankee Candles but are much much cheaper!! Over Christmas time I managed to burn my way through 2 of the Spiced Pumpkin scent and also one of the Brownie Delight scents. My personal favourite was the Spiced Pumpkin which just smells absoloutely fabulous. I have never tasted pumpkin pie before but I imagine it tastes how this smells! I did like the Brownie Delight but at times this can get very sickly, the boyfriend really enjoys this smell though so I mostly saved it for when he was around!

Now more candles, these are just random ones that I have got through since the new year. First up is the Everyday Luxe Cozy Campfire, I actually bought this as a Christmas present for my Mum but after getting home I just loved the smell so much that I had to keep it. I don't think it really smells like a campfire but it does smell cosy! I bought this from TK Maxx  so it is unlikely I will find this exact one in there again but if I do I will definitely be repurchasing. The lovely cupcake shaped candle is the Primark Strawberry Cheesecake scented candle, this was a Christmas present but I didn't end up using it until recently. This smelt really lovely and exactly how it is described but didn't burn for very long which was quite disappointing. I haven't tried too many candles from Primark but would love to try more. If you guys have any recommendations then let me know! Now onto the final candle and also possibly my favourite! I have had this candle for ages but had left it at home before starting Uni (nearly 2 years ago) but when I went home recently I found it and couldn't stop burning it. The Urban Outfitters Fig and Wild Pear candle smells beautifully rich but also quite fresh, it fills the whole room with the smell and is just fabulous! If they still sell these in Urban Outfitters I will definitely pick another one up!!

Now onto the beauty related stuff!! (I am thinking at this point I should of made this into 2 posts!!) Firstly skincare related stuff, only a couple of days ago I finished my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser. When I first got this I didn't really understand the hype around it but in the last couple of weeks I have really enjoyed it. I am not a massive fan of the smell (rosemary, chamomile and cocoa butter) but I think the product itself has done wonders for my skin! My skin has been feeling beautiful and soft all the time and I have had hardly any breakouts! When I have had breakouts though I have been using the Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask. I really like how this product is fresh so it feels like you are putting good things onto your skin! For me the only downside to this product is that you have to keep it in the fridge, I live with 3 friends and we don't have a massive fridge so this takes up space that I would prefer to use for food!!

I have also used a bottle of the Simple Kind To Eyes Eye Make Up Remover. I wasn't that thrilled with this product, I have had eye make up removers that remove waterproof make up better but this is pretty cheap so for the price it was fine. Now my favourite empty product this month has to be the Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner. This really does do what it says it does!! If I have a spot, after using this for a couple of days it completely vanishes. This is the only toner I have ever used and I already had a back up waiting for when this bad boy ran out!!

Onto my final couple of items!! (I am sorry this is so long) For some reason I have an empty conditioner but no shampoo?? I don't really have one holy grail shampoo that I always buy but Herbal Essences  is a brand I trust. The Uplifting Volume Volumising Conditioner smelt lovely and fresh but didn't really do much in terms of adding any volume unfortunately. Something that does help volume however is the V05 Plump It Up Backcombing Spray I am not going to say too much about this because I talked about it in my monthly favourites, but basically it works!! Now my only make up empty and that is the Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara, this mascara is fabulous! The wand is the perfect size for your bottom lashes and gives such lovely length to them, I will definitely be repurchasing!!

Now finally and maybe this is too personal but I have finished the FemFresh Daily Intimate Wash. This is a shower gel especially for your lady parts. Now this might be too much information but I like a clean lady area and this really helps to keep you feeling fresh and clean all day, I thoroughly recommend. I am sorry if that was too personal but it is a good product!!

WOW!! That was a lot of stuff!! I am sorry if you were bored but hopefully this was quite interesting!! What have you used up recently, any recommendations?? Make sure you pop by Tuesday where I will be reviewing a great make up remover, (any guesses which one??), Hope you enjoyed and thanks for reading,

Summer Fashion Must Haves

As a heatwave is predicted this weekend I thought I would kick it off with a fashion version of my make up essentials. These are my picks of everything from the perfect summer dress to the coolest bags, so lets crack on:

A Shirt- Yellow Shirt from Topshop
Very hot days don't happen all that often here in the UK so for the average mildly sunny days of England a shirt like this is just perfect. I like to team it with a pair of shorts for a casual but cool look. This bright yellow may not be to everyones taste but I think it's really cool and fun! Topshop do also do this shirt in a light caramel colour so if you want some thing more neutral maybe check that out!

A Sun Dress- White Dress from Primark
On the occasional hot hot days there is nothing worse than feeling horrible and sweaty so for me the only thing to wear is a cute floaty dress. This one from Primark is pretty simple but I think the bow detailing on the back adds something fun and different to the dress. It's also super easy for you to dress it up with accessories for a more night time look.

Midi Skirt- Floral Print from River Island
This summer midi's are so on trend, and I am very much on the midi bandwagon!! I am loving anything midi, and when I saw this skirt was in the sale I was a very happy lady. It's cute, floral and so light weight that it keeps you nice and cool. I think this skirt would look great on any shape and size, so I suggest you all head down to River Island before its gone!

Shoes/Sandals- Cut Out Pumps from Primark
I love flip flops and if I could I would wear them all year long but I know that is just not at all practical. But sadly my favourite flip flops recently broke so I decided to broaden my shoe horizons and get some new shoes. I have been wearing this cute tan pumps since May and I have really taken to them. They go with so many outfits and are super comfy, but I have had bad experiences with Primark shoes so I doubt they will last longer than this summer. But until they die I shall enjoy every minute wearing them.

Denim Shorts- Levi's from Urban Outfitters
I have never really been a massive fan of shorts but in May I decided I wanted a pair for this summer. I asked loads of friends and almost all of them suggested the Levi shorts from Urban Outfitters. I have them in medium and they are a great fit, but every pair is different so it is worth trying on a few so you can find the one perfect for you. My normal problem with denim shorts is that they can be quite tight, so it is easy to get hot in summer but you won't have that problem with these. They are great!

Handbag- Neon Yellow from Zara (pictured with white dress)
So my second yellow item of the post and also my favourite handbag at the moment! This bag is just amazing for summer!! The size is perfect and although it looks small it is big enough for you to carry all the essentials (and also probably a few unessentials!) The bright yellow colour is just perfect for jazzing up any plain outfit. I think all of Zara's bags are amazing and I would really recommend any of them!! Also I think this bag might come in different colours, so if you aren't loving yellow but like the shape have a look for other colours!

Jewellery/Accessories- Daisy Bracelet from Topshop and Daisy Headband from Primark
Firstly I think I may be obsessed with daisies! During summer I normally get really lazy accessories wise and tend to just stick to earrings. But this summer I have found some of the cutest stuff. I love this little daisy headband it just makes any outfit really cute. As for the bracelet, the flowers are really pretty and summery but I think the spikes/studs add a really cool edgy effect. Both items I shall be wearing so so much in the coming months!

So those are my fashion picks for this season. I hope you enjoyed reading and thanks!!
